I heard cicadas today.

I've heard them for over a week already, but I was ignoring them.

I thought they were early, but they are right on time according to journal entries from previous years.

The L. L. Bean back-to-school catalog arrived this week. Summer is going fast!

As in past summers, I again observed the strange grasshoppers we get up here. They make a clicking sound when they fly.
