Back at the origins of photography, no
one expected (to the extent anyone can be
said to have "expected" photography at all) that
photography would arrive as a black and white medium.
If you were dreaming up a something
like photography, you'd automatically assume it
would arrive in color, right?
But it didn't. People didn't know
quite what to make of this black
and white thing. They scratched
their heads over it.
