"...he put the Christmas-present television
out in the cold pump shed..."
---------------------

The phone has been
ringing off the hook as snowmobilers scramble to find lodging in
Alger County. We are fortunate to be one of the few areas in
the Midwest with adequate snow. Burying the water pipes last
year is already starting to reap dividends! The resort
infrastructure is functioning perfectly (knock on wood) and we are
treading softly to see how many snowmobilers we can effectively
host. At this point, along with the Office, the Rec Center, and
the Yurt, most of our cabins are now insulated.

Maybe my
grandfather when he put the Christmas-present television out in the
cold pump shed was being prescient. I have closely noted that
people who watch a great deal of TV never again seem able to adjust
to the actual pace of life. The speed of the passing images
apparently becomes the speed they aspire to and they seem to develop
an impatience and boredom with anything else. Children become
so saturated with TV and video games that Ritalin becomes the
alternative, or so I've read.
