when you're on vacation, you're on vacation
---------------------

We arrived in St.
Ignace, MI around 8:00 a.m. this morning and enjoyed near-perfect
weather as we participated in the 45th Annual Labor Day Mackinac
Bridge Walk. The "Mighty Mac" connects the lower peninsula of
Michigan to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We hiked the five
mile long Mackinac Bridge in less than two hours. Amy snapped
today's photograph, which shows the view from the grated portion of
the roadway. The height of the roadway above water at midspan
is approximately 200 feet! We collected our completion
certificates in Mackinaw City, purchased some fudge, and headed back
home. Tomorrow, I will begin work on a slideshow of our
Mackinac Bridge walk and post it on the web site.

"My voice mail message said I was out
of the country. We all work hard,
and when you're on vacation you're on
vacation and you have to cut it. There
was a time when I'd go away and check my
voice mail religiously. I
stopped."
Marlynn
Snyder,
a publicist at Arista Records, as quoted in a
New York Times article by Ginia Bellafante titled
I'm Not Answering, I'm Not Available and Don't Bother Me.
