Just a few short days ago, I was sitting in my own home watching
television. I was relaxing after a
long day of hard work. Suddenly, I became
aware that the guidance systems generated by a
network of twenty-four military satellites had provided
coordinates to Stealth fighter-bombers and Apache helicopters
and that these enormously destructive weapons had discreetly
focused laser guidance devices on my own home zeroing in on me
through my digital cable pickup. This is
something that they can do to virtually any home in America at their
pleasure. And this capacity is present because of our own insistence
that we have fiber-optic cable connections for TV, computer and telephone.
Please, folks, before it's too late, pause now in reading this letter, go
into the living room and rip the TV cable from the wall. Do not forget
any upstairs or secondary sets you may have.
Now, my own home is a brick home and I selected it
from a vast market of housing options precisely because an older brick home
can withstand a lot. But we are talking laser-guided cruise missiles
here!
