a long-gone soup
---------------------

Winds, gusting from 15 to 25 miles per hour, put
a damper on the Walleye Opener. According to Wayne Louden, one of our
long-time guests, the water temperature is still quite cold,
hovering around 48 degrees. Wayne still enjoyed a great
Walleye Opener as the following photo will attest!

--------------------
We do not know what the soup was on that
day. Corn chowder? Something New England, no doubt. It's
stupid to speculate. One way or the other, this is a long-gone soup.
Nothing of this soup remains, regardless of the skill and care of the chef,
Mr. Cookie. Even if there were, say a photograph of the soup, we could
only look at it and say, "Surely, this soup is dead. This is a dead
soup."
Curtis White,
from his novel Requiem.
