The beginning of the beginning
of the end of the beginning

The open water near
our cottage continues to expand. A strong wind today has
quickened the pace. Today's photo shows a heron hunting just a
few yards away from our patio door. We also saw three loons
and several ducks in the open water today.

It remains to be seen what those "younger generations" will make of "The
Last Waltz." At one point in the film, Mr.
Scorsese asks Mr. Robertson whether the concert
represents "the celebration of a beginning or an end."
Mr. Robertson replies, "The beginning of the beginning of the
end of the beginning."
