AuTrain Lake: Air Sled used as mail carrier during 1950's in northern Minnesota.

Today's photograph is provided courtesy of Amy's father, Ray Lowther.  Ray saw the Air Sled on AuTrain Lake and hiked over to Buck Bay to talk to the owners.  The Air Sled, built in the 1950's, was used for carrying mail in northern Minnesota.  The Air Sled has a 7 cylinder radial R-670 Continental engine that generates over 250 horsepower!  It is capable of reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour!
