in the life of a child
---------------------

Today's photo shows
Jim Becks and his grandaughter Michaela with a very nice 14 inch 1.5
pound Perch! They caught the fish a hundred yards out from
Dana's Lakeside Resort.
We are enjoying a
beautiful sunny day in the mid to upper 30's. We have had no
significant snowfall for over a week. The Marquette Mining
Journal is already printing articles on the ramifications of this
winter's weather on the water levels of the Great Lakes this coming
summer. According to the article, Lake Superior is currently
4 inches below normal, but Lake Michigan is in big trouble.
They are predicting even more difficult boating conditions on Lake
Michigan next summer. As yesterday's photo shows, there is no
significant ice cover on the big lakes. Normally, the ice
cover prevents water loss to evaporation, but that certainly is not
the case this winter.

world and thus a world event.
