LONDON - The $45,000 annual Turner Prize was awarded
yesterday to an artist who exhibited an empty room with lights that flicker
on and off every five seconds.
Martin Creed had warned that people should not look for too much meaning in
his Work 227: The lights going on and off.
"If I can make something without adding any objects I
feel more comfortable. It's like, if I can't decide whether to have
the lights on or off, then I have them both on and off and I feel better
about it," Mr. Creed explained.
