ah! - his bright laughing eyes
---------------------

Temperatures have fallen and we were given a
sneak peek of the impending winter! We are at peak autumn
color at the moment, but the snow will undoubtedly knock many leaves
off of the trees.

--------------------
Now, for most people, the sky's blueness is a
given (and, for all that, is therefore less than fully blue) . . .
but for the boy emerging for the first time from his grey,
repeatable night . . . emerging from his stinking pre-fab mousehole,
this was a new and exhilarating discovery . . . and you will forgive
him if he assumed, with an excess of childish, poetic enthusiasm,
that it was again Maverick intruding on a black-and-white world . .
. it was Maverick that he saw high behind the sycamores . . . he
bent, brooding, over the world with his warm blue breast and - ah! -
his bright laughing eyes.
