the translucent Stygian sheen of the eggplants

Thanks to drifting sand, I was unable to drive around the parking lot of the Au Train Scenic View on M28.  I got out of the van to snap this photo of Au Train Island and was promptly pelted by blowing sand.  Daytime temperatures have been in the 40's and winds have been over 20 mph for the past several days.

I was already so interested in vegetables that I steeped myself in these displays, marveling at the translucent Stygian sheen of the eggplants...
