lurking wildness and
frozen cotton candy
---------------------
This morning's sunrise
started out with great promise, but quickly faded when the sun rose
behind the impenetrable clouds.
Au Train Lake is very
quiet now compared to the activity and noise during the height of
the summer season. Duck hunting opens on September 30th so we
only have another week before shotgun blasts begin to wake us at
dawn.
Even in the apparent
tranquility of a quiet and calm Au Train Lake, who knows what's
going on under the surface? Who can imagine the chaos lurking
in the woods of Hiawatha National Forest?
James Gleick, the author of
"Nature's Chaos," writes, "To see nature chaotically, look again."

"Even when a cloud looks most like frozen cotton
candy, it slowly seethes and tumbles in the air. There is
wildness lurking in apparently passive formations." - James Gleick
