We've got to toughen up a
little
---------------------
This is how the resort
looks while climbing the stairs out of our basement.
I finished reading An
Unfortunate Woman: A Journey published posthumously and written
by Richard Brautigan a little over a year before he died. For
good measure, I read So the Wind Won't Blow it All Away again.
Now that I have Brautigan
out of the way for a while, I've started Jack Kerouac's On the
Road again.
Giddyap!

"In our parent's generation, you sucked it up and you walked it off.
Nobody gave a rat's ass about being chronically depressed, or having low
self esteem, or not feeling empowered. You fought the bull and
sometimes the bull won and sometimes you won."
"You've got to do the right thing and take responsibility for your own
behavior instead of suing the inventor of the fork because you've got
a fat ass. We've got to toughen up a little. Accountability may not be
dead, but it's getting harder to find than a Sumo wrestler's belly button."
