Today was the first time this summer that I heard the characteristic high-pitched droning sound of the cicada. As a schoolboy, this sound always signaled the inevitable slide into autumn and also served as an unwelcome reminder of the approaching school year. |
As if on cue, we experienced a major change in the weather today. There was a strong wind from the northeast. Only a few souls dared brave the lake today. According to NOAA, we will be experiencing highs around 60 for the next few days and lows in the 40's.
I'm trying hard to not spoil what remains of summer by secretly thinking too much about the impending autumn and winter.
