A Secret
On a hunch, based on the
spectacular sunny day we enjoyed on the 30th, I shuffled down to the
edge of the cliff by Cabin 6 a little after 12:30 a.m. I
watched the Aurora Borealis for a long time.
I know, I know, I should
have gone up to the house and hauled the family outside to see
it. But it's pretty cold tonight and pajamas are not the
uniform of the day. I should have called Ray and Phyllis
across the lake, but I'm sure they were asleep because I didn't see
any lights on at their house.
I watched waves and waves
of high energy protons spilling into earth's atmosphere. I had
read where we are again at the 11 year cycle of increased sun
activity. There will be more of these shows.
Amazing blue and white
shimmering arc-shaped waves of energy over the north shore of the
lake. There is no light pollution here so it's easy to see all
of those protons flailing about up there toward the pole. They
traveled a long way to get here and I was lucky to be out there in
time to see them.
Everyone else is sleeping
right now. Don't tell them about this.
It's a secret.

The
day turned out be another perfect sunny day. As long
as clouds don't move in, we should have another shot at the
Aurora Borealis tonight.

This time, I'll wake them
all up.
