Munising Bay

What a beautiful sunny day!  The entire family field-tripped to Munising Bay to investigate the ice fishing shack village.

The two fishermen in the picture told us how thick the ice is (over a foot!) and the kind of fish they were catching (whitefish).  There was a strong cold wind from the south, but they were well dressed for the weather.

This was one of the more artistic shacks.  The shacks come in all shapes, sizes and colors.  There were many fisherfolk on the ice today.

We then drove west on H58 until we hit the Bear Trap bar/restaurant.  The Bear Trap is a favorite stop for the snowmobilers.  It is located about 10 miles west of Munising at the junction of H58 and H15 near Shingleton, MI.
